I%26#39;m going to the Fox theater in May, and would like to eat in the vicinity. Anybody know anything about Chef Zachary%26#39;s Cafe? No reviews, no website?
Chef Zachary's Cafe?
I suspect that Chef Zachary%26#39;s Cafe is no longer in business as the phone listed for them has been disconnected. Perhaps someone else has definitive answers.
There are a number of places to eat near the Fox. What sort of cuisine/price range do you have in mind? Will you have a car? (A few of the restaurants, i.e., Atlas Global Bistro and the Whitney, might be too far for a comfortable walk, though taxis are available in that area.)
Chef Zachary's Cafe?
Hmmm.... I%26#39;m kind of a foodie and I have never heard of the place. If you want recommendations, post back and let us know what kind of place you%26#39;d like.
AddieBee, ditto for me. I did find Chef Zachary%26#39;s Gourmet Blended Spices and think that he may still be in that business, which the website says started in the early 1990s. The restaurant (breakfast and lunch only) seems to have started in the summer of 2005 (in the lobby of the Michigan Building at 216 Bagley). I found a Metro Times review from April 2006, but nothing after then.
Sadly, I guess like so many start ups everywhere, it didn%26#39;t work out.

Wow, thanks for the super fast replies! I will have a car, and I am a bit of a foodie. I%26#39;m traveling with a vegetarian, so Roast is probably out. Thanks again!
There are other places -- good places -- with vegetarian options. Is your friend ovo-lacto? eggs, cheese, etc?
Try Angelina Italian Bistro. Food is great, so is the vibe... a little bit of a walk, but not too bad if the weather holds up.
Vicente%26#39;s for Cuban food - really good beans and rice and fried plantains.
Traffic Jam and Snug in the Wayne State area would have vegetarian friendly dishes.
Cass Cafe for middle eastern. If Byblos is still there - is not fancy but the food is good.
Detroit Fish Market - upscale and if your friend eats fish, well...
You could try 24grille at the Westin.. it%26#39;s supposed to be good and its not a steak house.
There is also a new pizza place on that side of town... name escapes me. Taste the pizzabar I think.
Wasabi in the Cultural Center Kirby and Woodward.
Is Oslo still open -- I heard it had closed.. then reopened? Am I hallucinating ( This is Sushi).
Small Plates would probably have veggie food.
Orchid Thai on Monroe near Randolph...
Just some ideas.....
Veggie companion will eat fish, so I%26#39;ll try the fish market. The reviews I%26#39;ve read of Small Plates are terrible!
Not sure where you read the reviews, but the majority of them have been positive. I%26#39;ve eaten there maybe 6 times and always enjoy the food, which I would rate a solid B. Some of the negative reviews that I have read (mostly a year or older) complain about portion size. Hello! The restaurant is called ';Small Plates';, not ';all you can eat';.
Some of the negative reviewers complained about service and prices. Service was never a problem on my visits. As for prices, the restaurant has a website and lists its menu and prices. Portions are appetizer-sized and quality, so know what you will get and how much you%26#39;ll pay before you go.
