Easter weekend

My husband and I are spending two days, Easter and next day in the St. Clair area. Thinking of staying at St. Clair Inn and maybe going to Canada for half a day.

Any suggestions?

Keep in mind that Easter Monday is a holiday in Ontario and some things may be closed. You may want to call ahead to check.

If staying at the St. Clair Inn, spend the extra bucks and get a room in the older section of the Inn. They have much more character then the newer rooms which are nice but rather pedestrian.

In the town of St, Clair, the River Crab is arguably the best restaurant in the area, but somewhat pricey. Murphy%26#39;s Irish Inn isn%26#39;t so bad, particularly if you are not adverse to bar-food.

Avoid Pepper Joe%26#39;s----Yuck!

Skip Canada. Crossing the Blue Water Bridge is fun but there is plenty to see and do near St. Clair. St. Clair has a few cool shops and good resturants. Drive north on the road that the St. Clair Inn is on (I think it is called the River Road or M-25 - it has many names). You will go thru a few small river towns and it will lead you to Port Huron. There is lots of cool shops, resturants and bars in P.H. When in St. Clair, take a walk south of the St. Clair Inn on the board walk, cross the street by the Voyager Resturant and continue south over the bridge and you will see a small building with stuffed animals that the owner of the Salt Company has on display. I think there is also some boats in there. It is like a small museum. Good luck and have fun!

If you go to Canada, Sarnia has excellent parks along the Lake. As well, if you travel about 20-30 miles north along the Lake, look for Pinery Park (lots of Sand Dunes and a great Provincial Park Open Year round ( I think) and try a bit of Put Put golf in Grand Bend (on the Lake) or eat a coney dog and try out the arcade. Call ahead and make sure G B%26#39;s Open as it%26#39;s moreso a summer stop. Have Fun!
