Best time to visit?

Hi:

My husband and I would like a weekend get away! Possible dates would likely be May 15 - 17 or the first weekend in June 5 - 7. Is their an advantage to travel one weekend over the other? We have about a 12 hour car ride but have never been to Michigan.

There is an organized bike event the weekend in May so prices appear to be higher.

Any information that you would like to share would be great!

I would always go for the cheaper rates! lol

The weekend in June will be a little warmer and there will probably be more things open to do. The tourist season there is Memorial Day to Labor Day with July being the craziest.

There are a ton of websites to get info from to help with your trip. a good google search and you will find a lot of info. I hope you enjoy!

Your June dates include the opening weekend of the Mackinac Island Lilac Festival, but if you haven%26#39;t been it might be a fun experience. Be sure to check the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau website (http://www.mackinacisland.org) and look at their specials page for savings.

Zoo-de-Mackinac on your May dates is a major party - depending on your interests, that could be good or bad.

Weather can be problematic either weekend, but will probably be better on the later date.

As already mentioned, there will be more places open in early June. That is the time I would choose.

Yeah, I would make it the latter weekend. The weather is so variable up there. I would definitely take some good jackets with you, and sweatshirts, long pants, and shoes, not just sandals or flip flops. Of course, it could be 80, too, but unlikely. Have fun!!
