Good place to visit?

Just want a close getaway for the weekend. Prefer about 2 hours from border. Somewhere with shopping, maybe a casino.

Can anyone recommend a city/town to visit?

Good place to visit?

Which border...from Ontario there are several places to cross into Michigan...separated by more than 300 miles (Windsor to Sault Ste. Marie)

You are likely to get more help if you can be a bit more specific.

Sorry, I guess I thought you could read my mind haha.

We would usually cross into Port Huron, but could go throught Detroit. I%26#39;d like the drive to be around 4 hours (from London, ON) but will drive a bit further if worth while.

We will probably only stay one night (we%26#39;re leaving our daughter with grandparents).

I just don%26#39;t know much about the areas of Michigan.

A suggestion might be the Birch Run/Frankenmuth area.

Birch Run (north of Flint) has a large outlet center for shopping.

Frankenmuth is a cool German style town a short drive away.

Frankenmuth details are being discussed in this forum topic:

All less than a two-hour drive from Port Huron.

Another suggestion would be Mount Pleasant, Michigan. There is the Soaring Eagle Casino. It would be about a 4 hour drive from London.

If you were staying more than one night and it was in the summertime, I would suggest driving a little further. Maybe to Traverse City, MI or Mackinac Island.

I know you%26#39;re asking about Michigan, as I assume you%26#39;ve explored Canada, but have you ever looked into the Ben Miller Inn in Goderich, Ontario? My husband camped in the area one year and I thought that looked like a nice place for a short getaway if we ever had the chance.

Sheraton Inn in Novi. Lots of shopping, Close to freeway ramp for 30-40 minute drive to Det. casinos. Many good restaurants adjacent and within a mile, S of the hotel.
